Subject: Ladies' night

Hey, yo, women of the NYPD and related entities:

So, it's come to my attention that the last ladies' night I was involved in was...so far back I can't even remember.

I need some girl time. Some time that doesn't involve the kids (especially the giant, plaid-tie-wearing one).

Who's with me? Where are we going, what're we doing? Let's plan this.

Does anyone want a rambunctious three-year old?

OOC: Backdated to the weekend of March 6-7, 'cause I'm cool like that.

It was my birthday this last week, and our anniversary. Between work and two kids, we didn't have a chance to celebrate either until the weekend. Well, aside from the cake on my birthday. There's always cake for breakfast on the morning of my birthday.

Mike took me out last night, though, and we had a nice, kid-free time. We still have to go get the kids from my mom's. I'm kind of reluctant. Hehe.

When it gets humdrum in the lab, I wish for more excitement.

When a dumbshit perp pulls a gun at a crime scene, I want to be back in the lab.

What the fuck?

I'm a cop - it's not like I had a problem or that I couldn't handle it.

OOC note: Millie's back to work, so feel free to have your character drop by the lab! I'm definitely up for more than one thread going on!

Millie stood at a counter in the Crime Scene Unit lab, examining thread fibers underneath a microscope.

"Dammit," she muttered to herself as she increased the magnification of the lens. It was her first day back after being on maternity leave and in some ways it felt like she'd been gone months, not weeks.

She'd been with CSU since her days in Evidence Collection as a uniform, and normally Millie didn't mind labwork, but days like today made her miss being out on a beat. She had a gun, but rarely used it - only took it to crime scenes, really. Normally, that was just fine. Today, Millie wanted to chase down a perp or snap at a witness, or hell, even just drive the CSU van over the speed limit.

With a sigh, she wrote down the description of the thread she'd just examined and picked up the next evidence sample.

Hey Liv, it's Millie. You mentioned awhile back that you'd be up for babysitting. I was wondering if we could take you up on that offer sometime in the next week or so. Give me a call - or email me - I'm back at work. Talk to you later. Bye.

It can be assumed that these went out before Christmas Eve. If they weren't personally delivered, they were left on desks. As Wendy posted on hers, we can either RP something if ya want - just let me know - or you can have your character react to finding the gifts on their desk by commenting here.

For the Eames-Dresdens: There is first a Christmas card that reads, "Merry Christmas from the Logans - Mike, Millie, Isabel and Kit." There are two pictures inside the card - one of Isabel getting ready to scream as she backs away from Santa Claus and another of Millie holding Kit in the general vicinity of Santa Claus, while Kit wears a Santa hat.

The gifts:
For Alex.
For David.
For Ellie.

For Olivia Benson: The same card and pictures as the Eames-Dresdens get, along with this, wrapped up in a box with a bow on it.

For Megan Wheeler: The card and pictures, plus a gift basket with the following: 1, 2 & 3.

For the Hayses: The card and pictures, plus: For Cole and Max, although both are intended for both of them - bonding and all of that.

For Claire Fisher: The card and pictures, plus this. (The card is addressed to both Ted and Claire, from the Logans, but the gift box just says "for Claire" and there's a note from Millie inside. It simply says, "Brace yourself.")

For the Pelusos: The card and pictures, plus a couple of kid-friendly DVDs along with a basket of candy and popcorn.

For John Munch: The card (although his says Happy Belated Hanukkah) and pictures, plus a black knit scarf and matching hat.

For Zach Nichols: A card that like Munch's, says Happy Belated Hanukkah, although it's a Merry Christmas card, plus this.

For Fin Tutuola: A card, along with a box of chocolates.

For Val Lanier: A card, along with a box of chocolates.

I'm really getting antsy. To be honest, I'm looking forward to coming back to work. I'm gonna miss the routines I've gotten into with the baby (and Isa), but it'll be so nice to talk to adults all day.

Hey Alex, it's Millie. I was wondering what you were up to this weekend. Isabel's been getting a little antsy since we've mostly just been at home since the baby was born. She asked about Ellie and I told her I'd call to see if you guys could do a play date. Let me know. I'll talk to you later. Bye.

You know what's nice about having a newborn at Thanksgiving? Everyone else does all the work. We had dinner at our place, under the condition that I wasn't gonna do a damn thing. It worked out pretty well. My brother Ray made the turkey. Between Gracie, Pedra and my mom, all the side dishes and desserts were taken care of. Oh, and Isabel "helped" Mike make a pumpkin pie.

I didn't even really straighten up since the place was just gonna get messy with all the kids running around. My mom stayed after and cleaned when everyone left. Yeah, there are definitely perks. Plus, the baby was adorable in the outfit Pedra and David gave him, along with the hat we found for him at the Christmas market. Isabel has her own hat, which she's hardly taken off since the day we got them.

Oh, and the baby has a new nickname. Isabel kept referring to him as "the kitten" so much that Miike and I started saying it while we're around her, out of habit. It's been shortened to "Kit." He seems to be okay with it.
